Pesky little bedbugs are making their rounds across the U.S. -- in hotels, homes and even some retail stores.Pest control experts in Mississippi said there are things people can buy that could help including mattress encasements that unfold to help protect mattresses from begbugs."It's not a cure all. It's part of the solution," said Terminix branch manager James Brockman. "Mattress encasements are a viable alternative to throwing away a mattress."Bedbugs bite and feed off blood, but they can live for months without feeding."They are notorious hitchhikers. If you travel somewhere into a room that's infested with bedbugs, the overwhelming odds are, you'll bring them back home with you," Brockman said.An exterminator WAPT spoke to said over the last month that there's been an increase in the number of places inspectors are finding bedbugs."A year ago, I saw most of my bedbug infestations in hotels and motels," Brockman said. "Now, I see just as many in single family homes as I do in hotels and motels."The National Pest Management Association said bedbugs are nocturnal creatures and are very active at night.
