The Chicago-based law firm is dealing with an infestation of bedbugs at its New York office at 200 Park Ave., the MetLife Building. As of Friday morning, the landlord had not resolved the problem. A spokesperson with Tishman Speyer said in a statement, "We are working closely with the tenant to treat the problem aggressively and eradicate it quickly." A Winston & Strawn spokesman referred all inquiries to Tishman Speyer. The firm has about 160 attorneys in its New York office, according to its Web site. Winston & Strawn's office was open Friday, according to people who work there who said some chose to come in and some not. On Thursday, the firm informed lawyers and staff that they could work from home. The firm first alerted its New York employees of the problem Wednesday. After conducting an inspection that evening, the firm realized the infestation was office-wide and sent out a message Thursday morning over its emergency broadcast system. The bulletin was leaked to the "Above the Law" blog. Tribune confirmed the contents of the message. Bedbugs have infested scores of New York buildings in recent months, from hotels and hospitals to the Empire State Building.
